Oscar Brand And The Chimes Of Freedom

Thinking of the late, great Oscar Brand, a folk music champion who had 71 years (!!) of folk radio under his belt when he passed on this week at the age of 96.

This program will air on Sunday October 9th from 7-9 p.m. (an hour shorter than usual because of the upcoming presidential debate at 9 p.m.)

This week's calendar announcements:

David Bromberg will perform at Higher Ground in South Burlington on Sunday October 16th

Willa Mamet and Paul Miller will be performing some rare local gigs this month, including Thursday Oct 13th at the Whammy Bar in Calais.

Art Garfunkel will be at the Paramount Theater in Rutland on Friday October 14th.

De Temps Antan will be performing at the Barre Opera House on Friday October 14th . They will also be playing at the Colonial Theater in Bethlehem, NH on Saturday October 15th

Dana and Susan Robinson will be in concert at the Cabot Town Hall on Sunday, October 16th at 3 p.m.

The Guy Mendilow Ensemble will be presented by the UVM Lane Series at the UVM Recital Hall on Saturday October 15th.

Beausoleil will perform at the Chandler Music Hall in Randolph on Saturday October 15th.

Keith Murphy returns to Sterling College in Craftsbury Common, performing traditional and modern ballads and discussing the cultural transmission of European ballads to the U.S. and Canada. The performance will be at Simpson Hall, Classroom 3, on October 13th at 7 p.m.

Michael Jerling will be performing with Tony Markelis on Wednesday October 12th at Mouzon House in Saratoga Springs at 6 p.m.

Dan Berggren and Alex Smith are doing a benefit concert for the Adirondack Folk School at the Saratoga Arts Center on Friday, October 14th at 7p.m. For tickets and more information, go to adirondackfolkschool.org
